6 Bottle Case of Angel Flower 2014
I believe that with each passing year we better understand our vines, our soil and our intent to let home be whom home wants to be. Hand destemmed, with a little bit of foot crushing, then fermentation on skins for 27 days, settled also for a lunar cycle, then pressed and transferred to barrel, all French, and 15% new.
Bright, bold, ruby/garnet, constant to the rim.
Warm and gentle spices on the nose: cassia bark, nutmeg, allspice, and a light dry lavender note. Also small red fruits – fresh currants, goji berry, dried cranberry – and cherries macerated in wine.
Lively and mouth-watering on the palate, with exciting lift and verve. Real red fruit vibrancy. Long and juicy finish, revealing some complex, savoury notes. Very fine, almost powdery tannins present and convey the fruit. This is understated, but not uncertain. I like the combination of confidence and quietude here.
